The big Christmas blowout

And not in the terms that you would think. It's just that our Christmas this year, well...blew a little bit. And you know me, I am not a pessimistic person. But Olivia's first Christmas was pretty far from what I had imagined it would be. Let me explain.

It started with all of us being sick the few days leading to Christmas. "Oh well, big deal" I thought "we'll be in France soon, and we'll be able to drink and relax and celebrate Christmas with everybody and it's going to be grand!". Except for, we didn't take the snow into account. Nor did we anticipate that Charles de Gaulle airport would run out of de-icing product for their plane on Christmas eve. We were supposed to fly early morning on the 24th, but our plane was canceled, and no plane left for France that day. Oh - and we had no food at home since we had cleaned up our fridge...and all stores and restaurants are closed in Denmark on the 24th! We thought we'd be condemned to eating a gas station dinner on Christmas eve.... Thankfully Troels' brother found out we were still around, and him and Ditte invited us to celebrate with her family - which pretty much made our day! Thanks again for saving us guys :)

We ended up taking a 6.50 am flight on 25th -Merry Christmas Olivia! Try to see if you can still see Santa in the sky :S And it continued on and on. Our plane left late, we waiting for our luggage for almost two hours, missed our train, had to wait another 3 hours for another train.......10 hours after we left Denmark we finally arrived home, and you can guess that we were all pooped out to really celebrate Christmas. But we did. And it still felt nice. Just, different. Not really like Christmas is supposed to feel. But at least, Olivia won't remember this first Christmas so hopefully she won't hate us forever :)

So what is your guess? Boy or girl?????

Because we just came back from the hospital and we know :) So what do you think, boy or girl????

Boy or girl?

Well, the answer is....it seems like there is one thing we know how to make well......little girls :) So we'll have adding another one to this sweet little family of ours in May. A little sister for Olivia! Oh, and this little minipuce is super healthy, so we couldn't be happier!

The best day of my life...

It's not secret that Troels and I very often "speak" for Olivia. See, the truth is, we just can't wait for this little girl to be able to talk, tell us about her day, what she likes, what she dreams about.....so in the meantime, well, we pretend that she does tell us by speaking for her. It makes us smile inside and out :) And one of the things that 'Olivia' says very often is "This is the best day of my life"....which she 'says' just about every day :) See, it is just that she issuch a happy little girl, and she gets so excited, and smiles, and clap her hands.

Just like daddy and mommy walked with me to daycare last Friday. And min lille far put me up on his shoulder. And there was snow everywhere. And birds flying above my head from tree to tree. And oh-the trees were so high. And my silly mommy, she was chasing us pretending she was going to eat me. Oh, that was the best day of my life.

Minipuce at 18 weeks :)

This has been long overdue, my goal was to take a picture at 16 weeks like we had done with Tinypuce so that I could compare the two bellies...but well, you know how it goes. Nonetheless, here is a little belated picture of our minipuce, who is growing growing growing. Guess it's looking a lot like my belly at 19 weeks with the little Olive. And we should know next Monday if Olivia is going to have a little sister or a little brother. Can't wait!

Storm ahead, let's get goin', Captain!

The snow keeps on falling and falling, I'm just in love with it :) And this little girl went on a sleigh for the very first time, aaaaaaand.....fell of it too :D Just a tiny bitty fall. :)

Our place

Come in, come in, I want to show you something. It's our place. It's warm and cosy. And when we come in, it just feels like this is right where we belong. Oh and the food they serve, it will warm up your heart.

We went to our little Italian place last night, and I think that every other two sentence I said to Troels while we were there was "I love this place sooo much". Which is true. I do. And we both smiled at it :) Friday night it was snowing, they sat us down at "our" table, we could see the snow following down outside the window. Olivia spent the evening watching people come and go. We share food. We talked. We happily listened to silence. We watched the big smiles on her little face, and we watched her stuff her mouse in her mouse like she always does.

Having moved around so much, we don't have too many "habits" that we've built on over the years....so it just feels good, to have our place, and know that we can go there anytime we want, and it will make us feel the way it did last night.

And when we got home, the christmas lights were lighting up the house for the first time of the season. Bliss.

And I jumped up and down like a little girl this morning :) Nothing better than waking up to trees covered of white. And with that, Olivia's first steps in the snow!

Happy 24th of November everybody :)

Meeting up

No sure if it was the weather, and the overdose of pregnancy hormones but the first few weeks of November my mind just didn't agree think sunny and happy - and also, I was really starting to feel not having been able to drive for 6 months. And then, oh miracle.....all the hospital test that I had done after my seizure came back clear, a little call to my doctor......and he put freedom back into my hands :D Yes, I've been able to drive now for about too weeks -too bad for Troels who really was starting to call our car "my car"....he was so close to believing it :D

As soon I a firgured I could drive, i planned on going to this funky photography Meetup (if you guys don't know Meetup.com, check it out!). The concept: one hundred photographers were to gather in a huge warehouse, and volunteer models also came to get their pictures taken..... and that's it, run with it!

The place was beyond freezing but I had a blast. Met this nice girl, Marta, who came as a model, and we got along right away - you wouldn't imagine how having frozen toes can make people bound together in unity :D So I stole her away to snatch some pics where I could find good light.

And a few pics of another model, Andrea.

I'll be getting coffee with Marta this weekend, so yay to meeting new people and yay to weird warehouses to take pics!

A bucket full of sunshine

....and a mouth full of leaves and sticks. At least, Olivia's is.

Fall here could easily kick New England's butt. Just sayin' :) The most amazing forests of golds and coppers everywhere you walk, drive, cycle. Which also means, that we have plenty of leaves to rake in garden these days. So we put our little tree-hugger out on a blanket while we do the work I rake rake rake. Turn around. Leaves in her mouth. Rake rake rake again. Oh, did you know sticks taste wonderful too?

I do try and stop her....but she gets such a kick out of it....and hey, you got to let them be little too :)

My mum made this beautiful little purple hood for her....so now she's like a miniature version of the Little Riding Hood. Cuttest thing you've ever seen I bet ya'.

I just can't get enough of this sunny fall, soon we'll only get a few hours of sunshine a day, and if only I could I'd save up some in a bucket for later. For whenever I need a little sunshine snack this dark December.

I see London I see France

Two days, two capitals. What do you want. I've always been an overachiever. :D

The last weekend of my trip back home I delegated the care of the little Olive to parents for a couple days of hanging out with the Michounettes in London. And what do Michounettes do when they get together? Well, turns out...they eat. And they eat. And eat again. Mmmmm I guess the French roots always kick back in when we're all reunited :)

Just a few snaps from this weekend, nothing fancy, just to remember the little things that made the weekend so nice. We talked and walked along the Thames river, and got ourselves carried away by the market of Portobello road in Notting Hill. Pure goodness if you ask me, a weekend with the girls is exactly what I needed.

But then you know how my timing works. So I ran home to give my little girl the biggest hug in the history of hugs....and then it was time to get to Paris! I'd planned one day their before our flight back to DK so that we could spend some time with Marraine tatate Patate Soaz :) - also very much needed!

And it doesn't hurt that she lives right around the corner from my favorite part of Paris - Montmartre, the artist neighborhood. Ha the lovely steep steps.....that we had to walk up with a baby :D Nonetheless, still my favorite neighborhood! We walked around, I had a crepe....or two (only because my blood sugar was so low from going up these stairs :D). The sun was shining. A few fall roses were still out.

And all of these little girls had a big smile on their face.

I could have just gotten myself lost in time there, and forget all about my flight. I can't wait to spend more time in Paris this New Year's.
